DeafDigest Mid-Week edition, August 11, 2015 morning     -- a struggle while watching a captioned/subtitled movie When deaf people watch movies that are captioned/subtitled, there is often a struggle. To watch the captions and ignore the picture. Or to watch the picture and ignore the captions? This was the comment made by an experienced deaf movie viewer. Eventually he learned to "split his eyes" by half-watching the captions, half-watching the picture!   -- closing of a school program The Inter-generational Deaf Education Outreach spent over millions of dollars in establishing a deaf education program. Yet, it is now being closed up, and considered a failure. Why? The parents wanted their children taught orally and not taught in sign language!
