-- these useless 911 texts
There was a story that if deaf people live in the
mountains, then some of their 911 texts may be
useless. This is a problem during emergencies.
For some reason these high tech innovations do
not always work in the mountains. A picture is at:

-- always unpredictable reactions from hearing people
When a deaf person informs a hearing person of his
deafness, then the reaction is always unpredictable.
Some will run away; some will freeze up, unable to
respond; some will show nervousness, in case of
one bar tender, dropping the glass and spilling
the bottle to the floor. Most would nod and try to
deal with the deaf person, but for some others,
their reactions are bizarre.
-- the luck of the volunteer fireman
Sean Kearney, not deaf, is a volunteer firefighter
in Southington, Connecticut. He and his crew were
responding to an automobile accident. One of
those hurt in the accident was a deaf woman.
Kearney suddenly used his ASL to communicate
with her and was able to explain her injuries
with the hospital staff. Kearney knew sign
language because his brother was deaf!
