-- a deaf owner of a recreational vehicle company
Many deaf people own recreational vehicles (RV). As a proof of its
popularity, a workshop for deaf RV owners was packed during the
recent Deaf Seniors of America convention in Baltimore. It was just
announced that we have a deaf owner of a new RV company; it is
Mark Falso, who owns his own company in Syracuse, NY. He is hard
at work right now trying to make himself known among RV owners
in USA.
-- Mojo Mathers' struggle during parliamentary meetings
As we all know, Mojo Mathers is a deaf MP in New Zealand.
It is equivialent to a deaf senator or a deaf House
representative in Washington, DC, serving his home state.
How does she keep up with the parliamentary proceedings?
CART? Interpreters? Lipreading? Apparently she uses note
takers! It is not the best way, but it is New Zealand and
not USA. She panicked when her regular note taker did not
show up for her planned speech. Fortunately, the
parliamentary leader had her speech postponed until
the notetaker showed up!
-- stuck in Vermont, near the school for the deaf
Putney, Vermont, is a small town of about 2,600 people about
10 miles away from the Austine School for the Deaf in
Brattleboro, Vermont. Deaf people in Brattleboro are able
to enjoy the full internet access. Some deaf people in
Putney are not able to do so - even though both towns
are so close to each other! Why? Something to do with
politics and finger-pointing. In the meantime some deaf
people of Putney cannot use video relay service,
which requires high speed.
