-- car visor card telling cops you are deaf may not help
Many deaf drivers have sun visor cards that tell the
cops they are deaf, in case of traffic stops. Does
it help? It should, but sometimes it may not!
If the cop continues to bark instructions at you,
and you raise your hand towards the car visor,
he may not know what you are doing? He may think
you are reaching for something in that visor -
a weapon? Best thing is to just point to your ear
and say "deaf" even if your speech is poor!

-- Switched at Birth bad for deaf awareness
An activist said Switched at Birth is bad when
it comes to Deaf Awareness! Hearing people
watching that program may think the sign language
is same everywhere in the world; may think all
deaf people can read lips; may think all
deaf people are mutes; may get confused
between deaf, hard of hearing and hearing
impaired. And even worse, some hearing people
speak louder, thinking the deaf can hear!
-- Deaf Towels in football
For years when deaf teams play against
other deaf teams in football, there are some
coaches that use towels on the sideline. They
do not want deaf eyes from other teams spying
on their ASL signals. Well, some NFL teams are
using Deaf Towels! Assistant coaches send hand
signals (or hand gestures), behind towels so
that hearing eyes from othr teams cannot spy!
So, the deaf coaches have invented the Deaf
Towel to help hearing teams.
