-- self-employed interpreters, good or bad
Many interpreters are self-employed; they are their
own bosses. Is it bad? Well, many of them turn
down job requests during evenings and weekends,
when a deaf person is involved in an incident with
the police or with emergency personnel. This
was the complaint raised by a deaf leader in
Michigan.
-- deaf rebel leader in Burma
There was a short story about Burma's two warring
factions battling each other. It said that
Bo Nar Ma Kyar is the leader of one faction.
In Burmese language, Bo Nar Ma Kyar is
translated as Lieutenant Deaf. Not sure if
it is a deaf person or if it meant something
else? Googling showed up nothing about that
name.
