-- 13 not a bad luck number for a deaf group
13 may be a bad luck number that many people
avoid. But for 13 deaf attorneys, it is a
great number! The US Supreme Court has allowed
thirteen deaf attorneys to argue in front of
Justices. Will they eventually argue? Odds
are against it because the court only listens
to 80 cases per year, out of thousands of
cases brought up in front of them. But to
have right to argue, just in case at any
time in the future is a big honor. The

-- problem at a deaf school in Sweden
Things are not happy with a deaf school in
Sweden. A deaf person applied for the
assistant principal position, but the
screening board rejected him. As a result
four angry deaf activists chained themselves
to a school building! Police was called in
and arrested these four activists.

Ultratec, which places weekly Captel ads
in DeafDigest, has won the Wisconsin Job
Honor Award. It awards state-based companies
that give employees opportunities to move upwards
instead of being trapped into dead-end jobs!
Ultratec has promoted their disabled employees
into better positions with more responsbilities.
Most companies don't, but Ultratec did.
