-- a deaf person is already the most popular contestant
My Kitchen Rules is a popular TV program in Great
Britain. A while ago DeafDigest mentioned that
Emilie Biggar, a pastry chef, would be participating
in that TV program. It is like "Chopped" in USA.
Manu Feildel, from France, is the cooking contest
judge. Emilie had problems understanding him
and for that reason, she yelled at him in
front of the camera. That incident made her
the most popular contestant with these British
people.
-- two most famous Boston colleges sued for not captioning
There is a new lawsuit that accuses Harvard and MIT
for not captioning their on-line material for the benefit
of the deaf. As expected of these defendants, both
schools said they do caption, implying that ADA
regulations are being followed and that the lawsuit
is wrong.
-- cost of malpractice insurance for interpreters
Many interpreters are covered by their own malpractice
insurance, these premiums paid out of their own
pockets. How much does the premium cost? According
to one interpreter, it is almost $120.00 per year
for one million dollars per incident with a total
of three million dollars per year.
