-- not just Neflix is guilty
when captioned words are left out, people blame
Netflix. People forget that Amazon, Hulu, Vue,
Sling Orange, Crackle, Twitch, Vevo and other
streaming providers also leave out certain
words. Netflix is the biggest one and so
easy to get these blames. A picture is at:

-- many do not sign up for the State notification system
During emergencies (fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods,
etc) the first responders look at the notification
system to know which victims are deaf, as well as with
those of other disabilities. Does it always work?
In one apartment unit, everyone knows that one
resident is deaf, yet during emergencies, the
first responders are the last to know about it!
-- told deaf cannot become doctors
There are some deaf students interested in
becoming doctors. Almost all of them are
told they cannot become doctors because of
their deafness. And many of them would
not listen to doubts and eventually
enroll at medical schools, pass their
medical board exams and become doctors.
One deaf woman Jiang Mengnan wanted to
become a doctor but gave up after so
much resistance. Instead she switched
to pharmacy and is now studying for her
doctorate in pharmacology. It is not
in USA but in China.
