-- deaf stole $400,000 from government
If it looks the same as the deaf relay scandal of few
years ago, yes! Andrew Thomson, a deaf businessman, was
honored by the Britis government for helping
the deaf get jobs. Little would anyone realize he
was billing the government $400,000 for deaf relay
services, for interpreting services and for deaf
job placement services that were never performed.
This week he was sentenced to two yeas in prison.

-- most difficult hobby for a deaf person
Many deaf people have hobbies. What is the most
difficult hobby for a deaf person. It is
birding - locating and identifying all types of
birds out there. A deaf birder said he can use
eyes to find birds, but cannot hear sounds that
birds make whily flying around. Hearing birders
depend on sounds and vision. while the deaf
can only depend on vision!
-- saddest deaf movie ever
More and more movies are being made, involving
deaf characters as well as fake-deaf characters.
This is great because years ago there were very
few of these such films. The saddest movie
is "Pekak" which is an independent movie made
in Malaysia. The plot revolves around a
deaf man, desperate for a CI, but having no
money for it. To get money for it, he sells
drugs! All movies must have "happy" endings
and this frustrated deaf man falls in love
with a hearing run away girl, running away
from an abusive family. What happened at
the end? Do not know because the film
director wants you to watch the movie
to find out!
