You have an appointment with a doctor at a
hospital.
You tell the receptionist you are deaf. The
receptionist nods her head and says no problem.
She gives you a waiting room ticket. The
ticket number is 79.
Normally there would be an electronic display
on the wall that shows the number. Example 76,
then 77, and then 78, and you would know next
number is 79 and it is your turn.
But that hospital has no electronic display.
Instead, the receptionist shouts out the
number - 76, then 77 and then 78, etc.
You worry you would miss your turn because
you cannot hear the shouted number!
