We have a few deaf barbers. They have been successful
for many years and they earn good money. But it may
not be perfect for the deaf! Why? A hearing barber
said most important part of job is to carry on a
good conversation with the customer! Well, there
are many hearing customers that want peace and
quiet and are happy to have their hair cut by a
deaf barber.
-- a false promise for the deaf
In Pakistan, cricket is a very popular sport -
it is the same as football in USA. There is a
national deaf Pakistan cricket team, that plays
in tournaments against other national deaf Asian
teams. The government promised the deaf
team that if they win the championship, they
will be rewarded with a lot of money. The
team won the championship last summer. To this
day, they are still waiting for cash rewards.
The government continues to be vague with
cash promises!

A British newspaper listed ten best exercise
and workout movie scenes. Examples were:
Bridget Jones's Diary
Bridesmaids
Rocky
The Karate Kid
on that list is Pumping Iron, filmed in 1977.
It filmed scenes of deaf actor Lou Ferrigno,
working out to get ready for a Body Building
contest.
