-- bad interpreters sending a deaf person to jail
A deaf man was accused of murder in Pakistan.
He was given interpreters. Unfortunately the
interpreters did not accurately tell the court
what the deaf man said. As a result, he was
convicted of murder, something he said he never
did. The Ministry of Justice is not too happy
about it, since the court had to re-open the
case.
-- first deaf female filmmaker?
A newspaper in Alabama said that a deaf woman is
the very first deaf woman to direct a film.
True? No. We have some deaf female filmmakers.
The newspaper reporter, doing the interviewing
with an interpreter, did not do is homework.
Jules Dameron, a prominent deaf female filmmaker,
has been directing films for some 10-15 years.
