DeafDigest Mid-Week edition, May 13, 2016 -- a nightmare for deaf trying to lipread in one nation In one nation, deaf people have very serious problems trying to lipread. It has nothing to do with cigarettes in mouth or heavy mustaches or people speaking through their teeth, people speaking through their locked lips, etc. Why is it a nightmare? Take a look at the picture at: http://deafdigest.com/real-lipreading-nightmare/   -- CSUN makes a very surprising claim There was a newspaper story about CSUN. It said that CSUN has the nation's highest number of deaf and hard of hearing students. Highest? Yes and no. Yes, highest among state-supported colleges. No, because CSUN deaf enrollment is much lower than Gallaudet and NTID, both of which are not state- supported colleges. Annually CSUN has about 225-250 deaf students.   -- a question that Codas hate When friends of Codas learn that the parents are deaf, they are asked many questions about the deaf and of deafness. There is one question that a Coda hated - and explained in a video. The question is: can you teach me dirty signs!   Latest deaf jobs: http://deafdigest.com/category/jobs/ Barry's collections of past articles (with today's update) -- popular drink invented by deaf bartender http://deafdigest.com/collections/barrys-collections/ 05/08/16 Blue and Gold editions at: http://deafdigest.com/newsletters/
