DeafDigest Mid-Week edition, April 14, 2016 -- The King uses ASL People that love hamburgers at Burger King, know who The King is. He never talks until just recently - when he used ASL to communicate with the deaf. See the picture at: http://deafdigest.com/the-king-in-asl/   -- a confusing $60.00 hearing device There was a story that ran in many newspapers about a 16-year old high school student "inventing" a $60.00 hearing aid, using parts from an electronic shop. It is confusing because many people confuse hearing aid with an amplifier! This $60.00 device is actually an amplifier that the newspapers described as a hearing aid. A hearing aid and an amplifier are two completely different things!   -- ASL deaf communicating smoothly with oral deaf Could ASL deaf person communicate smoothly with oral deaf? Two University of Washington students have come up with "communication gloves" that would help ASL deaf communicate with oral deaf. These gloves, with sensors, are plugged into a computer, which translates what each other is saying. Will it work? There are as many as half dozen signs for the word "football" or even of the word "computer"! Can these gloves catch all of these different sign language dialects?   Latest deaf jobs: http://deafdigest.com/category/jobs/ Barry's collections of past articles (with today's update) -- Postmaster, deaf http://deafdigest.com/collections/barrys-collections/ 04/10/16 Blue and Gold editions at: http://deafdigest.com/newsletters/
