-- deaf employee asked to attract deaf applicants
CIA has a deaf employee, identified as Cham (not his real name).
He said CIA has asked him to reach out to the Deaf Community
to get the deaf to apply for jobs at this secretive
agency. Deaf as spies? No, but in a variety of desk
jobs. DeafDigest editor has known of several CIA employees
that were deaf. They, however, were not allowed to
talk about their jobs. Even if some were file clerks,
they still couldn't talk about it!
-- a comedian says it is ok to insult people
For years comedians have been insulting people,
hoping to make them laugh at their jokes. This
includes the deaf, and other groups, that have
been insulted. We hate to be insulted because
of our deafness, but comedians don't care. This
story was written up in a newspar, saying it is
ok to insult!
