DeafDigest - 14 February 2014

DeafDigest Mid-Week edition, February 14, 2014 -- weather news program with bad captions DirecTV dropped The Weather Channel because of a contract disagreement and replaced it with WeatherNation. Captions? Weather Channel captions are better than the WeatherNation captions. The Weather Channel people have been telling the FCC about the poor quality of WeatherNation captions! What did the WeatherNation people say? That it is a programming problem they are trying to fix. What will FCC say about it? Good question, since DeafDigest cannot read the minds of the FCC people!     -- a promising deaf bodybuilder Shelley Beattie, who was deaf, was an outstanding body builder during the early 1990's, competing against the best in the world. Do we have another one? Katie McDonald, a deaf California woman, is a rookie in body building competition, taking part in few events, but has finished in top 10 each time, the last one was a win. She is now aiming for the highest level in the world - International Federation of BodyBuilding & Fitness.     -- tags telling people of deafness Do deaf people need tags telling everyone of their deafness? Well, in Australia, there is a new tag - that tells everyone of deafness, of medical issues and the home address, etc. Deaf Australians using these tags? No! These are Deaf Dog tags, which is something new this year. Will Australians rush to buy these Deaf Dog special tags? Dogs can't point to their ears, telling people of their deafness!   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/deafdigest1 Twitter: @deafdigest 02/09/14 Blue edition at: http://deafdigest.com/category/newsletter/newsletter-blue-newsletter/ 02/09/14 Gold edition at: http://deafdigest.com/category/newsletter/newsletter-gold-newsletter/
