-- CDC finally realizes the deaf
DeafDigest mentioned that Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC) made no mention of the deaf or
of deafness while distributing a report about the
disabled. Public outcry was so overwhelming that
CDC has admitted they committed a big time blunder!
-- understanding the blind and mocking the deaf
An angry letter to the editor of a newspaper in
California accused the public of making fun of
deaf people while undrstanding the needs of
the blind. The writer pointed out to "many
cartoons" laughing at the deaf - like
pointing the trumpet to the ear. And also
comments like "fell on deaf ears", "as
deaf as post". "tone deaf" ,etc. The
writer is correct.
