-- New Jersey taxi company hangs up 3 times on snowy night
A deaf woman had a relay service ask the Clifton Taxi
and Limousine Inc to pick her up. She normally takes
the bus but the night was snowing and the bus did not
arrive. The taxi company hung up on her three times;
the final hang up was with this comment - Please
stop calling. As a result the state of New Jersey
has filed a lawsuit on basis of discrimination.

-- directory says 250 deaf-owned businesses across USA
There is a directory that lists deaf-owned businesses
across the USA; the count is 250. Do we have
that many deaf-owned businesses or are there
many, many other deaf-owned businesses that
are not listed in the directory? Very hard
to say. Many deaf people that work full
time at their day jobs also own their
own businesses that they operate during
their free time. Many deaf people sell
stuff for profit on Ebay and at auctions.
Would that qualify them as a deaf-owned
business? So many questions!
-- Facebook captions
Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg had an interview;
one of the questions he responded was that Facebook
could read postings and then convert these to
captions. DeafDigest has a question - what
would be the quality of these captions?
Perfect captions or sloppy captions?
