-- another deaf player in NFL?
We had two deaf players in NFL - Bonnie Sloan and Kenny Walker.
Will Derrick Coleman (UCLA) become the third deaf player in
NFL? He is in training camp with Seattle Seahawks. Coach
Pete Carroll said Derrick's deafness has not been a problem.
He played very well in Seahawks' exhibition game last week
against San Diego Chargers. Last year the Minnesota Vikings
cut him.
-- a deaf cartoon on a touring bus
In Okayama-shi, a city in western part of Japan, there is
a deaf cartoon on a touring bus. This sign language cartoon
is shown on the screen that passengers watch. While the
female character signs, there is a voice-over for the benefit of
hearing tourists. Her name is Shichihain Mayuse, and she
signs and speaks, explaining all these tourist sites. The
bus company said if this experiment is successful, it may
installed on all of the company's other buses across Japan.
-- hacking into a deaf product
Hackers are very scary. They can hack into anything as long
as there are computers inside them. Does not matter if the
computer is huge or tiny, hackers will find them. There
was a story of a hacker getting into a deaf baby cry signaler.
There are also many other deaf electronic products that
can be hacked (wake up signalers, door bell signalers,
our pagers, CI products, hearing aids, TV decoder units.
You name a deaf device (with a computer inside), it can
be hacked! What could we do to prevent hacking? Just
unplug the computer? Is DeafDigest joking? Yes.
