-- cost of caption glasses
The owner of a movie theater in Montana said that caption
glasses have been often been requested by deaf patrons.
He explained that the cost is $1,000 each, and the
whole captioning system around $12,000. He wasn't
complaining, just stating as a matter of fact. A

-- confession of a casino card dealer
A casino card dealer wrote an article,
anonymously, in a gambling magazine.
He said that deaf participants at
card tables are at a disadvantage -
they cannot hear whining, grumbling
and moaning from hearing card players
that would reveal whether their hands
are good or bad. This is the reason
why we have deaf-only poker tournaments!
-- explaining Gesture Sign Language
Gesture Sign Language? If you are in
Madrid, you will see a lot of gesturing
by hearing people on the streets. Apparently
each word has its own gesture! Is it
Sign Language? No, but looks like one.
On the BBC News program yesterday,
Mary Civiello, not deaf and owner of
Civiello Communications Group, was
interviewed regarding Donald Trump's
habit of gesturing and over-gesturing.
Some of Trump's over-gesturing looks
like ASL, but again, it is not.
Civiello, however, made no mention
of ASL or of sign language during
her interview.
