-- no captions on weather news
Could a major TV network show bad weather news
without captions? CBS, at around 330-345 AM this
morning, had no captions on its weather news program.
DeafDigest editor, wanting to get weather updates,
was disappointed with this lack of captions. Yes,
the FCC has been notified about it. But what could
FCC do about it? Not much, probably!
-- stuck in Maine
A deaf schools basketball tournament took place
this past weekend in Portland, Maine, hosted by
the Governor Baxter School for the Deaf. Because
of the snowstorm, the West Virginia School for
the Deaf basketball team is still stuck in Maine.
The coach said there may be no flights to
Washington, DC until Wednesday night!
-- another deaf-owned business in Frederick
A while ago DeafDigest mentioned that there is a
deaf-owned business in Frederick - Patty Cakes.
There is another one - EmbroidMe, owned by deaf
partners Amy Phillips and Angie Foster. It prints
name, image, logo or message on a piece of clothing.
It was also learned that Frederick has more deaf-owned
businesses that we are not aware of!
