-- Derrick Coleman's crazy Seattle Seahawks fans
As we all know, Derrick Coleman is the third deaf player
in the NFL. He plays for the Seattle Seahawks. These fans
are crazy - they broke the record for the loudest stadium
cheer - posting a 131.9 decibel shout. It is enough to make
all Seahawks players deaf - except for Derrick Coleman.
Was Derrick able to hear the 131.9 decibel shout? Some
deaf people can; some can't.
-- a magic show for Pippa
Pippa is the world's most famous sister - because her
sister is the Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton).
Recently Pippa Middleton and her boy friend Nico Jackson
were watching a magic show. The magician, upon seeing
Pippa in the audience, got nervous but calmed down and
was able to do his tricks. This magician is Kiegan Vallely.
Kiegan is deaf and Pippa said she enjoyed the show.
-- rude deaf gestures?
Deaf people use gestures with their own sign languages.
Does not matter if it is ASL or French or Spanish or
British or whatever. Some gestures we use, with our
sign language, may be an insult to hearing people,
watching us, but not understanding us. Such dangerous
gestures are - "so what", "dumb", "pain", "poor",
"baby", "suffer", "elbow", "funny".
