DeafDigest - 18 February 2014

DeafDigest Mid-Week edition, February 18, 2014 -- a deaf performer on a TV program The Block is a popular reality TV show in Australia. This program has been around, on and off, since 2003. It is about 5 couples that buy houses for renovation and then sell at auction for the highest price possible. One of the apprentice carpenters on this TV program is James Vea. He is deaf and on the program his name is Deaf Tradie. Why that strange name? Do not know.     -- a new law unfair to the deaf! There is a new law in Illinois that allows hearing drivers to use cell phone while driving a car; it must either be a speakerphone or a Bluetooth headset - both which does not require use of hands. What about the deaf driver? Too bad; they cannot drive and text while hearing can drive and talk!       -- pictures of a big basketball ceremony at Gallaudet http://deafdigest.com/kevin-milligan-gallaudet-basketball-jersey-retirement-ceremony/ the bottom picture on the screen also lists some facts about Kevin Milligan that many people did not know about!     Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/deafdigest1 Twitter: @deafdigest 02/16/14 Blue edition at: http://deafdigest.com/category/newsletter/newsletter-blue-newsletter/ 02/16/14 Gold edition at: http://deafdigest.com/category/newsletter/newsletter-gold-newsletter/
