DeafDigest - 18 June 2015

DeafDigest Mid-Week edition, June 18, 2015 morning -- Deaf Restaurant not perfect There was much publicity abut SIGNS, the deaf restaurant, in Toronto. No restaurant is perfect, and the SIGNS is no exception. Service was too slow. The menu was limited and the food was OK. Bad timing in serving dishes; the main dish was served before the diner had a chance to finish his appetizer. Requests for water were ignored. What did the hearing owner of SIGNS say about these problems? It was the first full time job for many of our staffers and we need to train them more. This restaurant has 45 employees, with nearly 30 of them deaf.     -- Microsoft and its Skype Translator app Microsoft's Skype Translator app already has four langauges to support - Italian, Chinese, French and German. This is in addition to text English and voice English. Who worked on this Skype language project? It is Ted Hart. He is deaf.   past Mid-Week & morning editions: http://deafdigest.com/category/mid-week-news/ 6/14/15 Blue and Gold editions at: http://deafdigest.com/newsletters/
