-- oldest advocacy organization in USA
There were claims by several national non-profit
organizations of being USA's first advocacy
organization (NAACP, NRA, and others). Not
true, the oldest advocacy organization is
the National Association of the Deaf. It was
founded in 1880, years before other hearing
non-profit agencies came into being. For a

-- the nation's #1 sportscaster refuses to caption
Bill Simmons is just about the nation's #1 sportscaster,
working for the ESPN for years before he jumped into
his own start-up sportscasting company. A deaf
sports fan has, for years, begged him to caption
his broadcasts, but he refused, saying ESPN is
his boss. Now with his own start-up, he continues
to refuse. Arrogant attitude? Yes!
-- deaf may be allowed to drive on one condition
India has always banned the deaf from driving cars.
After years of outcry by deaf advocates, the nation
may allow the deaf to drive - on one condition -
that the license tags have the word "deaf" to alert
hearing drivers behind them. Is that necesssary?
No, but a condition to drive is better than not
allowed to drive at all!
