-- a police log that will make you laugh
The Beverly, MA police received a report of two people
arguing loudly. Two police officers were dispatched
to the apartment. Upon arriving at the apartment, nothing
really happened and the police left. On the police log,
the police officer wrote:
They were not arguing, they're both hard of hearing
-- another big interpreting issue
A big issue right now is that a deaf person may be
assigned an interpreter, and that words and/or
signs he may not understand. Instead of complaining,
the deaf person keeps quiet about it. As a result,
the hearing person assumes the deaf person understands
everything and has no complaints! If you do not
understand the interpreter, say so!
