-- an interesting interpreter project
In Japan, a group of interpreters worked on a project, named
"Let the Hands Tell." When the Atomic Bomb fell on Nagasaki
in 1945, there were some deaf people that survived the
bombing. Two deaf survivors, still living, were interviewed
by these interpreters. These Deaf Tales from these
survivors hae been published and distributed to local
schools.
-- Netflix negotiating with a foreign company
Netflix had to be forced into captioning their
videos - under pain of these ADA lawsuits. It was
just learned that Netflix is negotiating with
several media companies in China on possibility
of streaming in the Chinese media. Big question -
will the Chinese streaming be captioned for the
benefit of Chinese deaf? There are several
major Chinese languages, by the way!
