- Gallaudet changing its name?

Gallaudet University changing its name? No, of course
not - but the metro stop within few minutes walk of
Gallaudet is the New York Avenue/Florida Avenue/Gallaudet
University. People are complaining that the name is
already too long. There is a proposal to change the
long name to NoMa!  NoMa? Do not know what it is.

- The Biggest Deaf Loser?

Many of us watch The Biggest Loser, this TV reality show about
overweight people trying to lose weight the most to win prizes.
Do we have a Deaf Biggest Loser? Possibly - as word is out that
Kevin Meyer and Michelle Weider, both with Boston's DEAF Inc
service agency are hoping to be on the program.

- A past Gallaudet junior buying a farm

Roger Thompson attended Gallaudet during the late
sixties and early seventies. His goal was to own and operate
a farm after he graduated from Gallaudet. He majored in
Business Administration, but did something unusual that probably
no other Gallaudet students have ever done. As a junior
he bought a farm, even though he knew he had to wait until
he graduated to operate it full time! He is still farming -
starting out with hogs before shifting to crops. This farm
is located in Elmore, Minnesota, just close to the Iowa
state line.

- Communication between the Deaf and the Blind

We all know that it is not easy for the Deaf and the
Blind to communicate with each other. The Outside magazine,
however, has a great story about a Deaf surfing instructor
teaching a Blind person on how to surf the waves! This
magazine is for those into active-lifestyle and adventure-travel.

- What is going on with Gary Busey and Marlee Matlin
on "Celebrity Apprentice"?

Actor Gary Busey, very angry, calls 'Celebrity Apprentice'
Teammates Backstabbers and Idiots. What is going on?
It was only a couple of weeks ago that Gary "thanked"
Marlee for saving his hearing. Marlee suggested that Gary,
who is slowly losing his hearing, get a hearing aid.
Taking the hint, Gary showed his appreciation. Now he is
angry at everyone. Is Marlee part of his anger?
