-- captioning laws are confusing
We have three different laws that require
online captions. Yet we are seeing more
lawsuits. Why? These laws do not give
clear guidance for providers on what to
follow. Confusing and a big mess!
-- interpreters annoy a college professor
A college professor has several deaf students
in his classes, each with their own interpreters.
What annoys the professor is that during classroom
exams, the students are quiet, working on their
exam answers, while interpreters talk too much
with each other, and interrupting the hearing
students!
-- a very angry police officer
In Auburn, Washington, a deaf driver saw a police
car, with lights on, behind him. This driver
stopped in front of a driveway. The police officer
shouted on the PA system to move the car so that
it would not block the driveway. The deaf driver
had no way of knowing it - and the cop got very
angry, walked over and gave him a lecture. The
driver told him of his deafness. What did the
cop say?
I had no way of knowing of your deafness and that
you should always follow the instructions.
Dumb cop? Yes! Did the deaf driver get a ticket?
Yes.
