-- that airline attitude
It was widely written up in the newspapers that Nyle DiMarco, who is physically fit, was given a wheelchair because of his deafness. It was written up today in another story that the United Airlines' attitude was this: ooh, a deaf person, give him a wheelchair-- refusing to go to barber for a reason
Jonathan Brostoff, not deaf, is a legislator in Wisconsin Assembly. He will not go to the barber until the assembly passes a bill to hire more ASL interpreters. His interest in deaf? He worked for past Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) years ago and made friends with two deaf interns on the Hill and learned ASL from them.-- finally fired a racist employee
A deaf man and his hearing cousin went to a pizza place to order a pizza. They then waited for their order and picked it up. On the receipt, it identified the deaf man with an inappropriate word. The deaf man protested it with the manager and was told the employee could not be fired because there was no one else in the shop to replace him. Few hours later the management learned about the incident and immediately fired the employee!
