DeafDigest - 21 July 2014

DeafDigest Mid-Week edition, July 21, 2014     -- A California sheriff receives a deaf kidnapping call In Palmdale, California few days ago, a deaf kidnapping alert call was sent to the sheriff's department. Deputies went to a house to check on it. A deaf couple and their hearing children lived in the house and there was no kidnapping at all. One of the children told the deputy he just got off a Skype chat with someone from Australia. The deputies now suspect that the Australian was responsible for the fake kidnapping alert.   -- kicking deaf mental health patients out of a country The Health Services of Wales has been accused by deaf Welsh leaders of kicking deaf mental health patients out of the country, sending them to England. The leaders said these deaf patients stay in England, never again seeing their family and friends! The Health administrators are denying this accusation.   -- Earthlink gives a deaf customer problems Earthlink is an internet service provider of about 1,200,000 customers. Way back in 2006, a deaf customer wanted to cancel his account, but was ignored by Earthlink. Each month for 8 years, he was charged this internet fee on his credit card account. Only recently he woke up and immediately emailed Earthlink about it. Earthlink told him to discuss this on the telephone. He explained he was deaf and it was much easier to discuss this on email. Earthlink got angry and threatened to send his account to a Collection Agency. He then had to get help from a local consumer service agency to force Earthlink to stop charging him and to give him a big refund.   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/deafdigest1 Twitter: @deafdigest to make subscription changes, go to http://deafdigest.com, click on the "subscribe" icon and follow screen instructions 07/20/14 Blue edition at: http://deafdigest.com/category/newsletter/newsletter-blue-newsletter/ 07/20/14 Gold edition at: http://deafdigest.com/category/newsletter/newsletter-gold-newsletter/
