-- a deaf owned brewery
A while ago DeafDigest mentioned Richard Emerson, a
deaf owner of a restaurant in Dunedin, New Zealand.
He just opened doors to a new $25 million brewery.
While we have a list of deaf-owned restaurants,
a deaf-owned brewery is probably a first. Patrons
entering this place will be able to order meals
at the same time order beers straight out of
the brewery. A picture is at:

-- another deaf pharmacist
Samantha Hert, who is deaf but speaks orally, just
graduated from the South College's School of Pharmacy
in Tennessee. We do not have that many deaf
pharmacists in the world - as discrimination is very
strong in the medical field. Hopefully Samantha will
find a job at a pharmacy and be able to serve deaf
patients, especially those that use ASL.
-- Flashlight basketball
Flashlight basketball, as in playing basketball at
night without lights? No.
The referee uses the flashlight to tell deaf players
that play has stopped because of a foul.
Silly? Impossible? Weird?
Well, the referees in India used the flashlight
in a recent basketball game among deaf players.
It more or less is an experiment.
