-- dogs of hearing different from dogs of deaf
Are dogs owned by hearing different from dogs owned by
deaf? No. Dogs are dogs, especially when getting
excited upon hearing outside noises. The Park
City coop in New York filed legal papers to evict
a deaf woman because of her dog. It didn't matter to
the coop board that other tenants had dogs. The
deaf woman went to Department of Housing and Urban
Development, and won. The coop board had to swallow
all of the legal fees it spent trying to evict
the deaf woman. Coop boards operate differently
from condo boards; deaf people with dogs need
to make sure of this fact before thinking of
buying a coop!
-- cost to make website deaf-compliant
What is the cost to make website deaf-compliant?
$150,000 according to Butler County local
government (Pennsylvania). This may be the
reason why small businesses and small government
offices plead poverty with this issue.
-- testing of open caption equipment
In a newspaper story Cineplex said they test
their equipment nationwide every Friday to
make sure that open captions work. They
admitted that glitches come up from time
to time that prevent open captions from
showing up on the screen. True or false?
