-- a Deaf Breakthrough on TV 24 years ago
It was a special moment 24 years ago. The NBC TV show
"Reasonable Doubts" featured Marlee Matlin as the
prosecutor. It was the first time a deaf person
was cast in a lead role in any TV program. She
was on the program for two years.
-- India and Pakistan continue to squabble over a deaf woman
It was thought that Geeta, a young deaf girl, now a woman,
was finally able to return home to India after straying
across the India-Pakistan border. But this case is getting
more murky each day. Every other day there is a different
story as to what is really going on. The latest is that
Pakistan turned down Indian attorney's reequest to
win custody of her - but that both nations are
"ccoperating" to resolve this case. Exactly what
does that mean?
