-- Signed TV News a failure
Is Signed TV news important or not important to the deaf?
A company that surveys TV ratings said that Signed TV
news do not really help the station's ratings in
Great Britain. Not really surprising because not
every deaf person knows sign language, and they
prefer subtitles.
-- while waiting for the interpreter to arrive
Deaf patients admitted to the emergency room at
the Erie County Medical Center (NY) will see
doctors and nurses carrying their sign language
books. It is to communicate with deaf patients,
while waiting for the interpreter to arrive.
It may be important because first few minutes
can be critical to the patient's well being,
and the medical people just cannot wait.
