Yet there is a dark side to her that many people don't know. She was an advocate - pushing for women's voting rights, for birth control and for rights of workers. While she helped set up the American Civil Liberties Union, she was a member of two organizations, considered radical in these days - Socialist Party of America and Industrial Workers of the World.
