Starting as a tiny college of fewer than 200 students, its growth paralleled the emergence of the American Deaf Community and the history of the nation in general. The book describes how the Civil Rights Movement inspired deaf people to gain control of governance of their university. It details the evolution of American Sign Language as a language of scholarship at Gallaudet during a time it was discouraged or prohibited in educational institutions. "The History of Gallaudet University" traces the historic path the school traveled to become the finest institution of higher education for deaf people in the world. This is what the National Centre for Promotion of Employment of Disabled People (India) is saying. The state weather offices are working with Alabama School for the Deaf and Blind and with the state department of rehabilitation on training the deaf to be weather spotters. It is for an important reason - weather can be real nasty in parts of the state. The  Nigeria National Association of the Deaf is scolding President-elect General Muhammadu Buhari for ignoring his campaign promises to help the deaf with their needs. A vest to allow the deaf to feel the speech? This is what a group of engineering students at Rice University is working on. It was not too many years ago when deaf students blew on a thin piece of paper to help them pronounce certain letters/ Derek Rumball gave a presentation of deaf history to a group of amateur historians at the East York Historical Society (Canada). The audience was fascinated. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- READ WHAT THEY SAY Unlock the phone with CapTelŽ Captioned Telephone!
