-- a small town may be ideal for deaf senior citizens
Morganton, NC qualifies as a small town, having 17,000
residents. Approximately 100 deaf senior citizens
toured the Alder Springs Deaf and Blind Community
located in Morganton, to see for themselves if the
town and the facility meets their needs. And
the Morganton city officials pitched the values of
small town life with them. Said one deaf senior
citizen - I love to hike, and I found this place.
-- a deaf-blind machine operator
Outlook Nebraska is a paper-production company
in Omaha, Nebraska. It has a big contract with
the United States Armed Forces. And one of
the machine operators at the factory is
deaf-blind. With his very limited vision,
he is able to use the iPad to communicate
with his fellow employees.
