The World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) has chosen a new Executive Director. After a global search, the WFD announced that John Moore will begin the role on January 1, 2026. The search for a new Executive Director started in September. The WFD said Moore was selected from many highly qualified applicants. Moore is a Deaf professional based in the United States with 30 years of experience in the non-profit field. He has strong skills in leadership, fundraising, financial planning, and managing large budgets. He has also led international teams and training programs. Moore has extensive experience securing grants through his work in non-profit organizations. This is especially important because the WFD depends on funding from many different sources. Moore said he is very excited about taking on the role. The WFD said it believes he will help grow and strengthen its work around the world. As Executive Director, Moore will manage a team of seven staff members working across four continents. He will represent Deaf communities in more than 130 countries, covering over 70 million Deaf people. The WFD’s mission is to promote Deaf human rights and ensure equal access to education, employment, and sign language recognition.
