-- a crazy minister says sins cause deafness
A minister, whom DeafDigest prefers to keep anonymous,
said that a person becomes deaf because of his
sins. He explained that when one uses the mouth
and the ear to spread gossip, it hurts people's
reputation. And as a result, these sinners go
deaf. This comment just makes no sense!
-- a police officer retires after pepper spraying a deaf person
In a small southwestern town, around 2,600 people, a police
officer retired. He pepper-sprayed a deaf person because of
an incident. This pepper sparying created so much
anger among the town residents, making things uncomfortable
for the police officer. He then retired. Did he retire
because he wanted to, or was he forced to retire? Anyway,
the sprayed deaf man said he was glad the town got rid
of that police officer.
-- FCC wants no more captioning bloopers
The FCC will discuss how to improve the quality of
captions in its open meeting on February 20th.
Trying to make perfect captions of live programs
is impossible. But what FCC needs to do is to prevent
garbled captions on old movie and old TV program
re-runs. For some reason each re-run makes the
captioning worse.
